Janet Sweet Pedersen

Janet Sweet Pedersen, age 90, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed on peacefully to join her husband, Ricard Christian Pedersen; parents, Lloyd L. and Stella P. Sweet; and sisters, Rosemary Thoburn and Nancy Byland in Heaven on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Janet was the owner of Sweetwater Bed and Breakfast as well as a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of the Villages of Westminster and the Green Springs Garden Clubs, and always active in church groups and Women’s Aglow International. She had a lifelong love of swimming—from lakes and beaches in Connecticut to Rec Center pools and lakes in Virginia. She always loved spending time with family. She is survived by her sons, Christian L. Pedersen (Pauline), Donn R. Pedersen (Beth), and Ricard C. Pedersen Jr. (Claudette); daughters, Carol P. Wiedel (Cliff), Holly Fesperman, and Dawn Pedersen; grandchildren, Jason Wiedel, Joel Wiedel, Joanna Kuta, Jereme Pedersen, Jonathan Wiedel, and Kelly Pedersen; and 12 great-grandchildren. A visitation for Janet will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Virginia 23188. A service will occur Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM., at Nelsen Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 1:00 PM at Old Brick Church Cemetery, Surry, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janet’s honor can be made to the Williamsburg Mennonite Church, 7800 Croaker Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
