James Whittemore, a man of unwavering kindness and generosity, passed away on April 27th, 2024 at the age of 79. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born in South Hill, Virginia but living out the majority of his lifetime in Williamsburg, Virginia, he was a devoted husband, family man, and friend to many. He exemplified the values of his faith through his acts of kindness and his commitment to helping others whenever he could. He was known for his warmth, gentle spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Throughout his life, James embodied the principles of helping others through his philanthropic efforts and community involvement. He was a steadfast supporter of various charitable organizations and shared his time and resources selflessly to causes close to his heart. James loved theater, musicals, and opera, inspirational words and scripture, world travel, creating flower arrangements, Hard Rock Cafe, Indiana Jones, Star Wars and so much more. His dedication to his family was unparalleled. He was the proud son of Linwood Marshall Whittemore and Virginia Massey. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife of 43 years whom he loved dearly and endlessly, always and forever, Sharon Whittemore, and took great pride in the accomplishments and talents of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren which he adored and spoke of often. In his own unique way, showering each of them with love and wisdom, and leaving them with many cherished memories and experiences. James Whittemore’s life was a testament to the power of goodness and the importance of living a life guided by faith in Yeshua. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all. A brief funeral service with short scripture reading and statements will be held at the burial site in the Oxford Gardens section of Williamsburg Memorial Park on May 2nd at 11:00AM led by Funeral Director, Jennifer Kelley. In closing, we remember his life with profound gratitude and love. While we grieve his passing deeply, we acknowledge the immense loss felt by his wife, therefore out of respect, there will be no post-burial gathering, as she wishes for quiet reflection in solitude during this time of mourning. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to help his wife bear the cost of his final expenses to https://venmo.com/u/blessingsformom, with much gratitude.
