Evelyn Kelloway Sheets, 95, was promoted to glory on April 30, 2024. She was born to the late Obed and Emily Kelloway, on December 30, 1928 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Herbert Leon Sheets.
Evelyn grew up in Chelsea, Massachusetts with her parents and 4 brothers. In her early 20s graduated from The Salvation Army School for Officer's Training. In her 30s worked for John Hancock in Boston and met and married her husband, Herbert Sheets. With Herbert she started her family to which she was devoted. She followed her husband's military career to Virginia Beach, Virginia where she worked for The Salvation Army as a social worker. Throughout the years Evelyn enjoyed participating in her church, The Salvation Army, as a Sunday School teacher and songster member. In the community she was part of the Home League and the Sunshine Club. She retired and remained in Virginia Beach in the same home she purchased with her husband in 1963.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Powell and Lynne Chaffin, son-in-law, James Powell; two granddaughters, Robin Kane and Abigail Hauschild and one great-grand daughter, Lilliana Kane.
