It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Betty Gawley on April 29, 2024, with her devoted family by her side. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Florence & Percy Frampton, as well as her siblings, Ruth, Lorraine, Fred and Don. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 57 years, Dave, daughter Karin (Don), sons Don, Neil (Cindy) and her grandchildren Ally, Austin, Connor, Kristen, Megan and Kyla as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Betty was born in Vancouver, and raised in Victoria. She met her husband Dave at Victoria High School. Betty worked for many years at Hudson Bay Wholesale, until she decided to change careers and become a Travel Agent at Beacon Travel. Betty eventually decided to leave her career behind to be a full-time parent to her children, who were so important in her life.
Betty had a passion for travelling, in particular to Hawaii, where her and Dave spent much time vacationing. Her other passion was her family, and her children and grandchildren were of utmost importance to her.
"Nana" spent several years caring for Ally for after school care, and many summers and vacations with Austin, Connor, Kristen, Megan and Kyla either in Calgary where they resided, or Victoria. If you asked any of the grandchildren what their Nana loved the most, they all would say us (or jokingly say her other favourite thing, which was white wine!).
Betty will be very missed by her family and friends, but we celebrate the beautiful memories she left behind and the impact she had on our lives.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Betty's care team at VGH on the 5th floor for their kindness, care and compassion.
Funeral to be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Crescent, Victoria, BC at 10:00am on May 11, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
