William (Will) Cawkell

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, William (Will) Cawkell, on Saturday November 19, 2022. Will was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Margaret Cawkell, and siblings, Ken, Frank, Moyra and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Diane; as well his four children, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Will attended St. Michael’s Choir School and De La Salle High School before completing a BA from the University of Toronto. He spent the next year traveling in Europe by motorcycle, and playing semi-professional hockey in Holland. In 1964, he graduated with distinction from University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. His adventurous nature took him to Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL for a two year internship, followed by a two year service with Care Medico in Algeria and Malaysia. Arriving in Vernon in 1968, Will served his community for 46 years as a Family Physician.

Will loved life. He was a man devoted to both his family and his faith. His life was well lived and he will be missed by all those who knew him. Funeral services will be held at St. James Catholic Church

on December 21 at 11 am.
