January 30, 1961 -- April 19, 2024
Our brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend, Gordon, passed away peacefully sitting against a tree in his backyard, Stanley Park, we are thankful for that.
Gordon grew up in Fort Langley with his parents, Jürgen & Patricia (Reid), sister Kat (Kevin), and
brothers, Michael & Raef (Darla).
As a youth of 6’4”, any sport that required height he excelled at, especially high jump. No one could beat “daddy long legs”.
He was a thinker and loved to ponder life even at a young age. If a question needed an answer, he would peruse the well-used family Encyclopedia set.
“How do you grow marijuana plants, hmmm?” Gordon the gardener – age 14
After finishing his schooling at Shawnigan Lake where Math was his forte, he started his first job
at West Graphika (KARO) working as a typesetter in 1979.
“Gordon had an amazing sense for balance and spacing of text.” CEO of West Graphika
Gordon lived in Hawaii and on Hornby Island, returning to live in Vancouver in 1989.
He played guitar and loved music intensely, especially classic hard rock of the 70’s & 80’s. In the
90’s you might have seen him walking in Vancouver playing his guitar with headphones on.
For the past 24 years he lived on Robson Street, west of Denman which made the natural surroundings of Stanley Park his second home. You could find him most every day strolling the
park and seawall and taking in all that nature had to offer. If you wanted to find him, just head
to the Second Beach seawall in the afternoon and there he would be singing and talking with other seawall regulars.
Gordon is predeceased by his parents Jürgen (2004) & Patricia (2010). His smile and little chuckle of happiness will be missed by his sister and brothers and nephews and nieces, Alexander, Courtney, Alannah, Elissa, Alexandra and Joshua, Uncle Joff, Aun\e Patricia, Cousins Tim, David, Hanno, Krischan, Richard, Susan and Michael.
Buy yourself a nice bouquet of flowers or walk the seawall at Second Beach, sit on a bench and look at the beautiful view… and think of Gordon.
“I’m pretty fortunate living the way I do; I’ve been retired for two thirds of my life.”
