Benjamin Valer Valena, age 54, from Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Ben was born October 19, 1969, to the late Loe and Elena Valena in the Philippines. The family immigrated to the United States in 1971. Ben spent most of his childhood in Greenville, Pennsylvania, graduated from Greenville High School in 1987 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from college, he pursued many interests including personal training and fitness which later led him into a career in sales in the healthcare industry. He enjoyed helping people get access to durable medical equipment and worked with pharmacies in business development. He was a patient advocate and shared his knowledge and experience to help others receive services to better their health and wellness.
He moved to Atlanta, GA in 2009 and soon met Melissa Sexton. They were married in 2010 and welcomed twins, Daniel and Evan in 2014. His main joy in life was his family. He led his family on many adventures including biking, fishing, kayaking, and mountain and beach trips. He was the number one fan at his sons’ soccer and basketball games. He loved spending time with his daughter, Christina, and granddaughter, Mia, and traveling to visit the extended Valena family. Among his many passions, he was enthusiastic about golf, the responsible use of firearms, customizing his pick-up truck, and driving his kids crazy with “Dad Jokes.” He was known for his big heart, eagerness to help others, and quirky sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Melissa Sexton Valena, sons Daniel and Evan, daughter Christina Fritz (Richard), and granddaughter Mia. He is also survived by his siblings Melinda V. Sheets, Liza Myers (Ed), Cynthia Bellian (Joe), Nelson Valena (Jason Anderson), Vanessa Tinsley (Rob), sisters-in-law Selina Kilpatrick (Joe) and DeeAnne Jackson along with 19 nephews and nieces. A visitation and service will be held on Saturday May 11, 2024 at 1pm at Tucker First United Methodist Church, 5095 LaVista Rd, Tucker, GA, 30084.
