Sister Anna Mary Meyer, C.S.J., age 87, passed away on Friday April 26. 2024 at St. John of God Retirement Center in Los Angeles, CA. She was born July 3, 1936 into a military family in Quantico, Virginia. She lived in Lakeside, CA for many years and there she met the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sister Anna Mary was a Sister of St Joseph for 51 years. Sister became a Catholic when she was 26 years old. Soon after, her mother followed her and Anna Mary became her mother’s godmother.
She developed a variety of interests and talents including being a cowgirl, singing and playing/teaching several woodwind instruments. She will be remembered for the pride she carried for managing her family farm, her work as the parish secretary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside and her years in pastoral ministry in Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital as a Sister of St Joseph. After retiring at age 75, she continued in Pastoral Care as a volunteer at Providence Tarzana Hospital and was a generous and capable driver for the Sisters at Carondelet Center.
She is survived by her nephew Jubal Mc Natt and niece Crystal Nugent.
