She was born on January 28, 1939, in Oregon City, Oregon.
Jeanette was the great, great, great granddaughter of Philander Lee, one of the founders of Canby,
Oregon. Her mother and father settled in Oregon City, Oregon where she was born and later moved
to Canby, Oregon around 1950. Jeanette graduated from Canby High School in 1957. She married James Payton on April 28, 1958, and together they had three children. She was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her family, while her husband James worked.
She enjoyed sewing, working outside in the yard and taking care of the grandchildren when they
were young. Her family meant everything to her.
She is survived by her husband James, daughters Debbie (Rusty) Johnson, Lisa (Mike) Merrill, 3
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Jeanette was preceded in death by her son, Eric.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10:15 am at Willamette National
Cemetary. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Young’s Funeral Home in Tigard,
Oregon.
