Ferdinand (Fred) Osti, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed from this world on April 26, 2024, after bravely battling Alzheimer's disease. Born in Schutzberg, Yugoslavia, on April 16, 1939, Fred's journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and unwavering faith.
At the tender age of 3, Fred's family courageously left their hometown amidst the turmoil of World War II, following the Danube River to Nurnberg, Germany. He was the third youngest among twelve siblings, and is survived by four cherished sisters.
At the age of 18, Fred embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to Canada and settling in Holland Marsh. It was there that he met and fell in love with Lysbeth (Betty) Beintema. Together, they shared a beautiful union and were blessed with three daughters: Brenda, Mary-Ann, and Jennifer. Despite the loss of Betty, Fred found love again with Dieke Huizinga, expanding their family with the addition of three more grown children: Wynnae, Anita and John. The family continued to grow as Fred and Dieke welcomed 12 grandchildren and eventually 5 great-grandchildren.
Their home in Willowdale served as a home base, where countless friends and family members from around the globe found friendship, love, and warmth in their embrace. Fred's vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who crossed his path.
Fred's creativity knew no bounds; he was a master upholsterer, skilled woodworker, and a talented painter. His hands crafted not only furniture but also cherished memories for those around him. Known for his ingenuity, he delighted in creating whimsical Rickey's that brought joy to all who beheld them.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Fred's passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but they find solace in knowing that he has found eternal peace in the arms of the Lord. Though he may no longer be with us, Fred's spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched.
