September 28, 1932 – May 2, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cosimo Vettese on May 2, 2024 at the age of 91. Loving husband of Anita (nee Sacco) for 64 wonderful years. Proud father of Marisa (Luis), Lisa (Charles), Laura (Phil) and doting nonno of Gwendolyn (Mike), Alexandra (Daimen), and Olivia. Son of Domenico Vettese and Margherita Varlese and the eldest of 8 siblings. Born in Cassino, Italy, he survived the bombing and destruction of his hometown and the Abbey of Montecassino during World War II, fostering his fascination of war history and his many stories to share of that turbulent time. He then married his beautiful wife, Anita in 1960 and moved to Canada where he built a new life becoming a proud Canadian citizen. Cosimo worked for the City of North York for 30 years. He loved gardening, opera, and dancing up a storm right into his 80’s. Cosimo lived a great life. Although he endured significant health challenges at times, he did so with great resolve with his wife by his side caring for him with endless devotion to his final days.
