Ronald Joe Pugh, 77, went home to be with his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ on April 30, 2024, from his home in The Woodlands, Texas. Ron’s beloved wife of 49 years, Betty, and his children were surrounding him with love when he was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Ron was born to Joe and Mildred Pugh in Camden, Arkansas, on July 19, 1946. Ron attended the University of Texas, where he studied business and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Ron married his loving and devoted wife, Betty, in 1975, and the family moved to Texas in 1977 ultimately settling in The Woodlands in 1991.
Ron has always been a hard worker in every aspect of his life, including as a husband, father, “Papa”, and a successful businessman. Ron was the true definition of a man with grit and determination who founded Roofing Supply in 1981. Roofing Supply Group ultimately became one of the largest privately owned wholesale roofing distribution businesses in the United States. In building the business, Ron was proud of his ability to find talented partners and friends to achieve a national footprint with 55 locations across 21 states. Along the way, he and his partners saw opportunities with other like-minded businessmen and together helped numerous others achieve great success through their tutelage and support. Beyond his core business Ron engaged heavily in real estate ventures and pursued significant philanthropic endeavors. Outside of work, Ron was a devoted family man who enjoyed having a good time, traveling, playing tennis, golf, cards, The Texas Longhorns, lavish dinners, a good wine list, western art, nature, and yellow roses. He loved spending time with his family, including regular trips to many different corners of the world. He lived life to the absolute fullest. Ron will leave his indelible mark on so many lives that had the opportunity to know him, be among his many close friends, benefit from his wisdom and his sincere love for others. His memory will live on through those lives he has touched.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Joe E. Pugh and Mildred Mary Pugh, and his grandson, Hank Harrison Heard. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Pugh; his children, Darren Breaux, (Traci) Heather Woodall, (Daniel) Holley Poelma, (Randall) and Hailey Heard (Scott); and his grandchildren Madison Elizabeth Breaux, Matthew Thomas Breaux, Michael Joseph Breaux, Luke Daniel Woodall, Ronald Carson Woodall, Lillie Ann Woodall, Emmie Ann Woodall, Royce James Poelma, Rhett Pugh Poelma, Elle Victoria Poelma, Evie Ann Poelma, Annie Caroline Heard, Charles Scott Heard, Beau Alexander Heard, and Holliday Heather Heard.
A special thank you to Sharon Flowers and Josiel Salas for all their help and support.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love shown for Ron. A small private family service will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
