Mary Anne Vernarksky was born in Rockford, Illinois to Maria and Steven Vernarsky. She graduated from Rockford High and pursued a career in secretarial work. In 1965 she married Richard Moors when they both worked at Woodward Governor Company in Loves Park, Illinois. Mary enjoyed golf and was an excellent bowler who had several perfect games to her credit. She took an active part in guiding the life of Dick’s second son Alan, who lived with them while he attended college before joining the Navy in 1970.
After they both retired they relocated to Arizona and lived many happy years together in Sun City West. Many of their friends from Illinois had moved to the Phoenix area and they were able to continue an active social life which included golf, travel and active participation in Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
After Dick passed in 1996 she moved to Sierra Winds, a lifecare community in Peoria, AZ. In 1999 and enjoyed twenty five years with friends and staff there before her passing. She loved Arizona for its beauty and natural wonders. Although it was sometimes too hot in the summer she said she never missed Illinois winters. She loved to read and spent many happy hours solving crossword puzzles, serving on committees, playing bingo and other activities at Sierra Winds.
Many of her friends predeceased her but she never complained of loneliness had a warm smile for everyone she met. She lived a full life and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by nieces Diane Borisov (Walter) of Rosemere, QC Canada and Betty Norris (Kim) of Fredericton, NB Canada, nephew Henry Dermer of Montreal Nord, QC Canada. Stepsons Alan Moors (charlotte) of Towaco NJ and Jack Bland of Longmont CO. And dear friend Patricia Patton of Peoria, Arizona.
