Our loving, amazing spouse and dad died this past Sunday, April 28th, peacefully (aided by some morphine) at the end of a beautiful spring day in DC. We were both able to say our proper goodbyes and let him know how much we loved him. Chico, our dog, did say goodbye too, quite effusively jumping on top of him and licking his hand!
His presence and the joy he brought to our lives was an absolute gift. It’s hard that we’ll never get to see that knowing, sheepish grin again in person. He will be dearly missed.
Clif is being cremated and following his longtime wishes, his ashes will be spread into the oceans-- oceans that he spent a great part of his career fighting to protect.
We will be planning a celebration of his life at some point this year and we will share more details once we have them. In the meantime, we would love to hear your favorite memory of Clif, some fun vignette or why he was special to you. Whatever you send by email, text, or voice mail, we will read aloud on May 9th, when we would have celebrated his 78th birthday.
Please send us these by May 8th. If you can put the approx date of the story... please do. We will eventually compile it into something shareable with everyone. Please feel free to forward to others.
Big hugs/abrazos to all,
Mayra and Xavier
