Eunice A. Rusy, age 89, passed away on April 26, 2024. Loving mother to Virginia (James) Rusy Sanville, Allen (Connie) Rusy, Neal (Cheryl) Rusy; Beloved grandmother of Eric (Virginia), Jessica, Daniel, Kendall, Anton, (Lauren), Katelynn (Justin) Denison, Amanda, Caleb; Great grandmother to Samantha, Katherine, Easton, Emma, Rylee, Raelynn. Dear Sister to Robert (Mary) Herr; Aunt to Daniel (Sally Scoll)Herr, Lawrence (Kathy) Herr, Kim (David) Wahl, Ramona (Larry) Wesner, Steve (Kay) Cramer, Kevin ()Herr Jeremy( Terri)Herr, Derek Herr, Ted(Cynthia)Herr, Great Aunt to many. Eunice is preceded in death by her parents Vernon M. Herr and Beulah (Smith) Herr along with her two siblings Vernon (Ann) Herr and Patricia (Calvin) Cramer.
Eunice was born In Lodi Wis. On June 17, 1934. She grew up on the family farm. After graduating High school in Lodi in 1952 she started work at the Methodist hospital in Madison Wis. Soon after she was hired at the Jackson clinic in the Physical Therapy dept. where she trained and studied to be a Physical therapist. In 1954 she married and moved to a suburb of Madison with her husband. After her first child was born in 1957 they moved to Villa Park Ill. While in Villa Park two more children arrived in 1960 & 1965. During this time Eunice’s mother in-law Ella came to live with the family and eventually in later years became her caregiver.
Eunice was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Villa Park where she was on the altar guild, in bible study and taught Sunday school.
In 1973 she began work at Elmhurst hospital in the physical therapy dept.
In 1979 Eunice moved to Geneva Ill. and continued her work in the physical therapy dept. at Delnor Community Hospital in St Charles Ill.
Her hobbies included gardening, crewel embroidery, crochet, picking wild asparagus, playing the organ, and writing poems; she would sometimes play the organ after Sunday dinner. Eunice’s culinary skills were quite impressive with a substantial library of recipes. She would try out new recipes on us kids and say “well it didn’t turn out right”, we could never tell the difference. In later years when she lived in Scottsdale, AZ. She would supplement her income by selling cakes and pies. Her cheese cakes and lemon meringue pies hot sellers.
In 1987 Eunice moved to Georgia to spend time with her Brother Bob and his wife Mary.
In 1988 she moved to Scottsdale, AZ. where she continued her work as a registered physical therapist. She studied and also became a licensed aesthetician, TENS specialist, Reiki massage therapist.
While in Arizona, she was also a personal caregiver/companion to several people one of which she accompanied her charge to their summer home on an island off the coast of Maine.
Eunice made many friends while she lived in Arizona; she enjoyed living there very much. She and friends would take day trips around the area and watch the wildlife and admire the scenic views. Watching the wild horses was one of her favorites.
In 2020 Eunice moved back to be with her son and daughter in-law in Batavia ill.
Later in 2020 still wanting to be on her, own she moved to Heritage Woods in Batavia.
In 2022 Eunice moved to Michaelson’s rehabilitation and memory facility. The camaraderie between Eunice and the staff was in typical Eunice fashion. There was always time for a hug, pat on the back a smile joke or a short story. Eunice passed away peacefully with family and staff by her side.
Eunice will be missed by many.
