Giacomo A. Del Vecchio Sr. passed away on May 1, 2024 in White Plains. He was 92 years old. Giacomo was born on October 2, 1931 in Eastchester to the late Frank and Maggie Paduano Del Vecchio. Giacomo was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1948 to 1949. On April 26, 1953 he married his loving wife Carmella Maccariello at St. John’s Church in White Plains NY. Giacomo was a foreman for local 60 Construction for fifty years. He was a member for over fifty years of Post 2285 Sam DiRienzo Veterans of Foreign Wars in Eastchester where he was the Commander in 1972. In Giacomo’s earlier days he was an active member of the Eastchester Little League the Pony Colt League both baseball organizations in the town of Eastchester. Giacomo was a Troop 3 Scout Master at Greenvale School and an active member of the Eastchester Senior Citizens.
In addition to his wife of seventy one year’s Carmella he is survived by his children Giacomo (Lynn) Del Vecchio, Annette (Andy) Harrington and Toni Marie Del Vecchio. He is survived by his grandchildren Anthony (Scarlet) Del Vecchio , Kaitlyn (Robert) Krause and Dina (Alan) Flamenhoff. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Giacomo, Valentina, Brook, Gianna, Riley and James. He is predeceased by his sisters Anna Mirra, Marie Bracalello, Carmella Vigliotti and Margaret DiCarlo, his brothers who he missed dearly Albert, Leonard, Emanuel, Francis, Anthony and Daniel Del Vecchio.
A visitation for Giacomo will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A Mass of Christian burial will occur Monday, May 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 8 Carman Rd, Scarsdale, NY 10583. An interment will occur Monday, May 6, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM at White Plains Rural Cemetery, 167 N Broadway, White Plains, NY 10603. In lieu of flowers donations to Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corp (EVAC) 257 Main Street Eastchester NY 10709 preferred.
