Isabel Christine Buckholdt was born on Saturday, January 1st, 1966 in San Antonio, Texas to Gilbert and Mary Reyna. She was indeed a miracle and gift from God to begin a special New Year. Christine (as she liked to be called) departed this earth and moved to Heaven to be one of God's newest angels on Wednesday, May 1st 2024 at the age of 58. Our Lord called her on that day to end the pain and suffering that she endured for almost two decades. She loved helping others and was injured in 2005 while helping load critical care nursing home patients onto planes on the tarmac in Beaumont, Texas just prior to Hurricane Rita.
Her favorite color was green and appropriately so as she loved gardening and growing all kinds of plants and herbs. Christine loved people and was well-known for her generosity, gift-giving, sense of humor, welcoming nature, and kindness. She loved all activities and gatherings with family and friends. She arrived with a smile and was always ready to give and receive hugs and ILY Squeezes. She was a terrific wife, amazing mother, and great friend to many. She loved to cook and excelled at cooking as if an artist with a blank canvas & brush. Everyone greatly enjoyed her famous Spanish rice, chicken and rice, fideo, and many other dishes that she so lovingly prepared.
Christine enjoyed playing slot machines at casinos in Las Vegas, and more recently enjoyed playing in casinos while onboard cruise ships sailing to new and exciting destinations; including the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Canada, Alaska, and most recently the Hawaiian Islands. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Reyna and brother, Gilbert Jr. She is survived by her husband Anthony Buckholdt, three sons - Daniel (Bree) Fredric and Franklin; daughter, Crystal Rios, four grandsons Dean, Aiden, Liam, and Hunter. Also mother Mary Vasquez, step-father Louis Vasquez, sister Janie Madrid (Ruben), brother Richard Reyna (Pat), two sister-in-laws, Stephanie Buckholdt and Victoria Buckholdt, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless others she considered family and dear friends. She was known as Honey, Mom, Christine, Tina, and Tita. Christine will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
We will hold her in our hearts and remember that there is a new guardian angel in Heaven to watch over us until we see her again.
Celebration of life service will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd in San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Sunday May 19th, 2024. Visitation with family will begin at 3pm followed by a rosary led by Ernie MacDonald at 4:30pm.
