He was born on June 22,1941 in Hartford, WI, the son of Carl and Agatha (Wolf) Schroeder. He was raised in Fort Atkinson on the dairy farm started by his great grandparents. He was a 1959 Fort Atkinson High School graduate and a longtime member of 4-H throughout his school years. He attended University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Ed married Frances Ann Sullivan on July 6,1963 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Janesville, WI.
Edward was employed by United Parcel Service for 32 years. He started his career as a delivery driver and moved into management within two years. He retired as the President of International Operations. He successfully spread UPS services throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and South America, ultimately working in 31 countries. His job took him to live in several states across the U.S. and to Germany. He traveled the world for work.
Ed loved spending time with his family, often traveling with them in his retirement. Ed and Fran enjoyed many cruises and have the distinction of having crossed both the Arctic and Antarctic circles. He was an avid runner and took part in numerous 5K, 10K and half marathons, as well as completing a full marathon in 1985. Ed enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, watching sports and any activity in which his grandchildren were participating. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and was also involved with United Way and Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 61 years, Fran Schroeder; children Linda Schroeder, David (Hallie) Schroeder and Patricia (Anthony) Miletello; grandchildren Nicole, Hallie Jo and Jake Schroeder, Andrea Miletello, Sophia Miletello, Tina (John) Ballon and their children John, Paul and Timothy; sister Judith Lehman; brother James Schroeder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, daughter Jane Schroeder, sister Margery Schmitt, brother Loren Schroeder and brother-in-law Thomas Lehman.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 6-8 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076. There will be a Rosary at 7:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM Saint Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022. Following the service, there will be a reception and time of fellowship at the church.
