Barbara S. Hailey, 86, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Earl Hailey Sr.; parents, Henry and Viola Smith Jr.; and brothers, Henry Haven Smith, Gregory Timothy Smith.
Barbara retired from Richmond Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse after 36 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Church of the Redeemer. Barbara found joy in the little things in life such as reading, admiring nature – especially birds and butterflies, and spending time with family. She was always so supportive of her friends and family. Barbara had a positive outlook on life and would always make herself available for a kind word or a delicious home cooked meal. Barbara strived to make her children and family happy at all times and for that, she will truly be missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linwood Earl Hailey Jr., Raymond Scott Hailey, Amy Hailey Ashworth (Tim); sister-in-law, Frances Smith; niece, Cindy Smith Harrison (Danny); and nephews, Haven Jeffery Smith, Damian Christopher Smith.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
