Cherrie Hieb passed away quietly on April 30, 2024 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer six months ago. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen & Mike Cunningham; son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Ali Harvey, granddaughter Lincoln Harvey; and her brother and sister-in-law, Rex & Jennifer Philips.
Cherrie was born on April 17, 1947 in Portland, Oregon to Cliff and Dorothy Philips. She attended and graduated from Marshall High School.
Cherrie was an active member of Northwest Christian Church in Tigard and often volunteered her time to help others.
At one time Cherrie owned a PT Cruiser. She embellished the car with her “Cherrie” attitude. She belonged to a PT Cruiser driving club and drove with other PT Cruiser lovers through wine country and places like Crater Lake.
Cherrie was very creative and seemed to be always making a new crafty item. Her specialty was sewing where she was forever making bags, napkins, pillow cases, and seasonal items for friends and family. Her greatest skill was in quilting. She made beautiful, thoughtfully designed quilts for beds or hanging and gave them to those she loved. Her final “cowgirl” quilt was specially designed and lovingly made for her 2-year-old granddaughter, Lincoln.
Cherrie was a kind, giving person who always saw the best in life. Her positive attitude was a gift to others.
She will be missed by those lucky enough to have been a part of her life.
A memorial service will be held at Finley Sunset Hills Mortuary and Memorial Park on June 8th, 2024 from 2:30pm to 5:00pm. The address is 68001 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR. 97225
