He was caring and big-hearted, but in the end he succumbed to heart failure. He was a pipefitter by trade and worked in chemical plants for a while. In his younger days he loved to windsurf, play the guitar, and ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His favorite singer was Willie Nelson and he loved cats. In his healthier years, he enjoyed being around people sharing stories and jokes. He had fond memories of his early childhood in the 1950s when the family moved to Marrero for a few years. His Aunt Edley Chedotal was like a second mother to him during that time.
He is survived by his siblings Phyllis Beckman (Phil), Jimmy, Carl, and Reuben (Lisa); nieces and nephews Jerome Blanchard, Sunee Blanchard, Chad Blanchard, Elizabeth Blanchard, Melanie Beckman, Scott Beckman M.D., and Carley Blanchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Edna Blanchard and infant brother Kenneth Blanchard. The family would like to thank the First Responders of Pierre Part, the ICU doctors and staff at Ochsner St. Mary, and especially family and friends for their faithful love, assistance, and support over many years.
