Denise Charlotte Figueroa passed peacefully into Heaven, carried by the Lord’s loving arms, in the early hours of Wednesday, May 1st. She was surrounded by her family, and her husband of 26 years, Alex Figueroa at her side. Denise was born to Rudy and Maria (Sagie) Ramos in Phoenix, Arizona. Denise is preceded in passing by her mother, Sagie, and father-in-law, Leo Van Vleet. She is survived by three children, Alex (Tre), Mia, and Isabella, her father, Rudy Ramos (Ana), her two sisters, Theresa (Greg), and Debra Ramos. Denise has countless family members, including the Figueroa family, her mother-in-law Josie, father-in-law Alex, sisters in-law, Romie (Chris), and Joann (Robert) and many nephews and nieces, along with countless expanded family members.
Denise wore many hats, as a beautiful daughter, amazing sister, an awesome friend to many, a devoted wife to her firefighter husband, a skilled social worker, and a loving, busy mother of three. She would often step in as needed to care for younger sister Debra or make time on the phone with older sister Theresa, sharing secrets, good advice over coffee, or a new recipe. She loved her family fiercely. As a graduate from Arizona State University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Denise especially excelled in her career, setting up services in the pediatric population for the developmentally disabled, for which she was highly sought after by other professionals for her expertise in assisting parents and families with specialized needs. During her personal time, you could find her as a proud mom, taking her girls to dance classes, soccer practice, or volleyball games, maybe leaving town to watch her son’s baseball tournament, as well as faithfully attending sporting events, in support of many friends and family members. Denise will be missed dearly and forever in our hearts. Services will be held at Greenwood -Serenity Chapel 2300 W Van Buren St Phoenix, Arizona 85009 at 11am. She will be laid to rest immediately following at St. Francis Cemetery 2033 N 48th St. Phoenix, AZ 85008 followed by a reception at American Legion Post 41 715 S. 2nd Ave Phoenix, AZ 85003.
