Thomas spent the next 57 years, in East Point, GA. After graduating from Russell High School in 1950, Thomas joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in England for four years. He completed his tour of duty and returned to East Point to marry his high school sweetheart, Geraldine Porter and enrolled at Georgia State College, graduating in 1960. Tom and Geri had 3 children, Eric, Alec and Alicia and were active in the community, local schools and youth sports as well as original members of Westside Christian Church. Geraldine preceded Thomas in death in 1989.
Thomas moved to Peachtree City, GA and became an active member of Peachtree City Christian Church. It was there that he met and married Loretta Nickelson in 1992 and they settled in Sharpsburg, GA. Tom retired from the pharmaceutical industry after over 40 years and he and Loretta split their time between Sharpsburg and his condo in Panama City, FL. Loretta passed away in 2014 and Thomas moved to Arbor Terrace in Peachtree City, GA.
While at Arbor Terrace, Tom met Marion Leonardi and they became inseparable. Active and fun-loving, they were an integral part of the community up until Tom’s advancing Alzheimer’s required him to move to The Fountains Memory Care Facility in Cartersville, GA. Thomas spent the last three years there where his charm and personality were still able to shine through and he became a favorite of the staff and residents until the end.
Thomas was a kind and loving husband, father, friend to so many and a devoted Christian. He is survived by Marion; his three children, daughter-in-law, Susan; stepdaughter, Cindy Greene; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren' and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
