Mary Elizabeth Johnson-Bell, 69, passed away on April 29th,2024 at Palm Bay Hospital. She was the wife of Tommie Bell III. They shared 45 years of marriage together. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Carter and Ivory Johnson. She was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana Technical University with a degree in English and began her career in teaching.
In 1978 she married Tommie Bell III and began travelling with him as an Air Force wife, while raising two daughters and teaching. After over a decade of teaching, she started a new career, working as a civilian employee with the Air Force, then Army, and finally with the Marine Corps, retiring in 2017.
She is survived by her husband, Tommie Bell III, two daughters, Nishanda Johnson and Toshica Bunting (Matthew), two grandchildren, AJ Whiters, Caira Whiters, her sister, Christine Johnson, her sisters-in-law, Gloria Bell and Lynn Bell, her brother-in-law Allen Bell, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Carter and Ivory.
She enjoyed reading, travelling (especially road trips) and the beach. She will be remembered for her smile, generosity, sense of humor, loyalty, love of British comedies, and teddy bears.
A visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. A celebration of life service will occur Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida.
