It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Ramirez announces his passing after a year-long battle with cancer on Wednesday July 15th, 2020 at the age of 67 years. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Rose (nee Rasmussen) and his children, Ernie Ramirez and Sherry Higgins. Robert will also be fondly remembered by his seven cherished grandchildren, J'nai, Valerie, and Keith Higgins, Maryclare, Michael, Eileen and Bridget Ramirez and by his siblings Richard, Louis, Gloria, Susan and Gilbert, and by friends and relatives too numerous to list - nearly all of whom shared an inside joke with him. Robert was predeceased by his Father Henry and his Mother Louisa.
Robert graduated from Carson (California) High School in 1970 and Cal State Dominguez Hills in 1974. After starting his career at GTE, Robert worked at Southern California Edison over a remarkable 30 plus year career spanning a variety of important roles in their corporate headquarters. A man of strong faith, Robert was actively involved in the Catholic Church, serving throughout his entire lifetime as a parishioner, lecter, Eucharist Minister, youth group leader, confirmation instructor, and most recently as a Marriage Enrichment Retreat leader. Robert had a way of making everyone he met feel valued and individually loved. His caring sense of humor endeared him to hundreds of friends in dozens of circles. Robert was an extraordinarily devoted husband, father and grandfather (Papa). He loved sports, particularly Angels Baseball, Rams Football, and every single team for which his children and grandchildren played. Robert was an avid fan of Marvel Comics, Star Wars, and was the type of man who listened carefully to the words of songs. He loved travelling with his wife Rose, playing board games, video games and good-naturedly teasing and generously tipping restaurant wait staff while enjoying meals with friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Service in Robert's memory will be held on Friday, August 7th, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga, CA with Fr. Ben Nwachukwu-Udaku officiating. Interment will follow at Stewart SunnySlope Cemetery in Beaumont. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Robert to Sacred Heart Catholic Church: www.sacredheartrc.org.
