Karon Jamee Meinke, 79, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully at her home on April 28, 2024. She was born on April 7, 1945, in Omaha, Nebraska to James Miller and Glenys (Nelson) Miller. Karon grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1963. She married Edward “Mike” Meinke on February 19, 1966, in Bellevue, then lived in Omaha for the rest of her life.
Karon was a lunch/teacher aide for Beals Elementary School, worked at Richman Gordman and ½ Price Stores, and then retired from Baker’s Supermarkets after 18 years of working in the deli. She loved dancing, going to the movies, vacationing at Leech Lake in Minnesota, spending winters in South Padre Island, TX, and spending time with her grandsons. She is survived by her husband, sisters Sandra (Gene) Bowman of Omaha, NE, Dianne (Barry) Glass of Council Bluffs, IA, and Susan Clifton of Bellevue, NE; daughter Michele (Larry) McClure of Bellevue, NE, and son Scott (Laura) Meinke of Omaha, NE; two grandsons, Michael McClure and Thomas McClure; brother-in-law Dale Meinke; sister-in-law Jeannine (Ernesto) Vallejo; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Karon was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by A Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Omaha, NE.
