Lavenia Garrett Jordan, 87, of Coldwater, MS went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2024. Mrs. Jordan was born on August 17, 1936 in Hope, AR to the late Leon and Winnie Garrett. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jordan; sister, Linda Malin; and brother, Raymond Garrett. She is survived by her daughter, Karen D’Alanno (Richard); daughter, Debra Merritt (John); grandchildren: Adam D’Alanno (Samantha), Wesley D’Alanno (Taylor), Melissa Fritz (Justin), Chris Merritt (Megan), Laura Rivas (Alex), and Miranda McOwen (Jesse); 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Hershell Garrett (Lynda). In her younger years, she worked for a jewelry store. She loved jewelry and was always dressed well. Everything had to match. She also enjoyed gardening and reading as a younger lady. Later in life, she worked for the State of Arkansas Department of Revenue as a collections officer where she retired after many years. In her free time, she loved fishing. It was her biggest hobby and pastime. Mrs. Jordan was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of Mt. Manna Baptist Church. Her family was one of the most important things in her life, especially being “Mamaw” to her grandchildren. She loved having family and friends at her home and cooking for them. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Mt. Manna Baptist Church on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Hinds Chapel Cemetery.
