Verna M. Winters, age 96, of Lisbon, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at St. Joseph's Home, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Cemetery in Lisbon. Calling hours will also be held on Monday from 12:00 pm until the time of the service.
Surviving are her children Linda (Doc) LaComb of Ogdensburg, Roger (Darlene) Winters of Lisbon, and Robert (Diane) Winters of Lisbon; grandchildren Eric (Kathryn) LaComb, Sara (Doug) Farley, Vincent (Jill) Winters, Bradley (Brenda) Winters, Kim (Phil) Walker, Melissa (Tyler) Grace, and Patty Elliott; great-grandchildren Quin & Abby LaComb, Jed & Jacob Farley, Ava Winters, Rhett & Amelia Walker, Tyana & Baylee Elliott, Jessica & Joel Hargrave, Cheali (Brian) Long, Breanna & Katelyn Ashley; great-great-grandchildren Braden Pelkey, Nash & Kane Hargrave,Tallie Meashaw & Blayne Long; along with many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
She was predeceased by her Husband Forrest R. Winters; brothers Erwith & Roger Dezell; sisters Margaret Dingee, Irene Armstrong, and Elizabeth Prigge, and a grandson Brent Winters.
Verna was born on May 31, 1927, in Lisbon, a daughter of the late George & Harriet (Winslow) Dezell. She graduated from Lisbon School and later married Forrest R. Winters on Feb 9, 1946. Verna was a homemaker and an active member of Lisbon United Presbyterian Church, a former member of the Eastern Stars, a past Elder at the Nevin Memorial Church, and ladies aid society, a member of the Lisbon 89ers, and an award recipient of the Lisbon Depot Museum, where she was a very active member. She enjoyed camping, knitting, playing cards, watching car races, search word & jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family.
