Ed was born in New Bedford to the late Edward M. and Gertrude (Powers) Mulroy February 3, 1935.
Ed worked for the Almacs Supermarket chain for 44 years and was store manager in several of the stores before his retirement.
He was a member of the Army National Guard of Massachusetts from 1957 to 1963.
In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, water skiing, and golf. After retirement, he enjoyed mornings with the McDonald’s “coffee group”.
He is survived by his wife, Thora, his son, Michael and his wife Liz of Fairhaven, his daughter, Christine Brandi and her husband William of New Bedford, four grandchildren, Rachel, Jacob and his companion Meagan, Brendan Mulroy, and Coty Brandi, three great grandchildren, Zoe and Mia Charbonneau and Eben Mulroy and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joan St. Pierre.
His funeral will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church, 67 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 p.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
