It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Lee Jr. (Bill), of Trumbull on May 2, 2024, beloved husband of Barbara Ann Laine Lee of Cape Cod; peacefully and comfortably at age 89 years.
Bill was born in Bridgeport on October 19, 1934, son of the late William Lee Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Turney Lee of Easton. Graduating from Newtown High School in 1953, he worked on the family dairy farm in Trumbull until enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1954, where he proudly served in the 551st Airborne Early Warning and Control Wing at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as a radar operator and crew chief, aboard a Lockheed RC-121 Super Constellation aircraft.
After earning an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bill returned to Trumbull with his bride, where he became an excavating and septic contractor, serving the area for almost 50 Years until his retirement.
Bill loved spending time with his family, friends, and in his wonderful vegetable garden. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and NASCAR auto racing. He also enjoyed playing recreational softball for several teams over the years.
Bill continued to serve the Trumbull community as a Life Member of the Long Hill Volunteer Fire Company #1, and as a Commissioner of the Long Hill Fire District for many years with much enjoyment and pride.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Bill leaves behind two sons, Tracy William Lee of Trumbull, Eric Turney Lee of Trumbull and two grandchildren, Amanda Cathryn Lee and Benjamin Garrett Lee also of Trumbull. He also is survived by a brother Gilman Lee of Monroe, and sisters Annabel Lee of Redding, and Barbara Brennan of Hillsdale, New York as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as his extended family on Cape Cod.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Michael Cafaro and all the physicians and staff at Northeast Medical Group and Saint Vincent's Hospital for Bill's care over the years.
Bill's final wish was to simply be remembered fondly by all those who knew him. In honor of that wish there will be no services. Rest in Peace dear husband, father and friend.
