Obituary of Robert Lee Bowman
Robert (Bob) Lee Bowman, 74, of Richmond, VA, passed away at his home on April 29, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Robert was born on April 5, 1950, in Harrisonburg, VA. His father, Joe Clower Bowman, and mother, Margaret Glover Bowman, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Bulle Bowman; his son, Andy (Lisa); daughter, Laura; and two grandchildren, Ada and Theo. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Ellen Addicott (Jerry); brother, Al Bowman (Carmen); and sister, Melanie Hollinger (Dennie); as well as a special group of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Robert was a graduate of Montevideo High School (Class of 1968), and received his BS in Aerospace Engineering in 1972 from the University of Virginia. He was proud to have worked for the same company for 43 years, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, which later became Siemens Energy. Robert loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, following sports, and playing golf with his friends. He was constantly eager to learn new things and was known for his sharp sense of humor. He was an accomplished woodworker who enjoyed building furniture and tinkering in his workshop. Above all, Robert was a loving and supportive husband, Dad, Granddad, and brother. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, at 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m., at Woody Funeral Home and Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA. The Celebration of Life will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend in person. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Michael J.
