Thomas Edwin Belcher passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024 at the age of 80, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 20, 1943 in Greenwich, CT and was a resident of Metairie, LA for the past 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary W. Belcher, two sons, Mike Belcher (Jennifer) and David Belcher (Melanie), his grandchildren, Ashley, Jackson, Tyler, and Kaitlyn, and his brother, Bill Belcher. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Seymour Belcher and Alice Bonvie Belcher.
A graduate of New Rochelle High School, Tom went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Lexington during the Cuban Missile Crisis. During his professional career, he worked in the airline industry as well as marketing and advertising.
Tom was a devoted family man whose love and loyalty knew no boundaries. He treasured every moment with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. Fishing was one of his favorite activities, and he enjoyed spending time on the water with his sons and grandchildren. He also loved traveling with his beloved wife, Mary. A true patriot, Tom’s generous spirit touched the lives of all those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for his love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM with a memorial Mass to begin at 1 PM.
