August 31, 1930 - May 3, 2024
Violet Tatz, age 93, (now you know) of Smyrna, Georgia went peacefully to her eternal heavenly home on Friday, May 3, 2024. She was born to Fred and Wilhemina (Shikalla) Rasdorf, Sr. and raised in Morrisdale, PA with her five siblings. Violet graduated from Cooper Township High School and attended Business School in York, PA.
Violet married the love of her life, Harold Tatz, and the US Marines Corps, on May 10, 1952, and together they raised 3 children. Harold and Violet celebrated 57 years before Harold passed away in September of 2009. She loved her family: birthdays and holidays were always made special. Her faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She was a charter member of First United Lutheran Church, in Kennesaw, where she shared her talents in choir, directed young children in Joyful Singers, and served in all areas. Through the years she worked as a florist, later as a substitute teacher, and was an excellent gardener!
Violet is survived by her three children: Douglas (Nancy) Tatz of Acworth, GA, Roger (Karen) Tatz of Dallas, GA, Leesa (John) Tilstra of Brandon, WI; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Geoff) Dethloff of SC, Michael (Jessi) Tatz of GA, Ashley (John) Tatz-Rothman of GA, Matthew Tatz (Nicci Smith) of GA, John (Elizabeth) Tilstra of TX, and Bekah Tilstra (fiance’ Noah Hiemstra) of WI and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lorraine Michaels of Morrisdale, PA, sister-in-law Lorrie Tatz of Brookfield, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
Violet’s Memorial service will be Friday, May 31 at 1:00 officiated by her son-in-law John Tilstra.
