Born in Staten Island, he was a lifelong resident before settling in the Leisure Village West Community of Manchester five years ago.
Prior to retiring, he was a carpenter for the NYC Department of Transportation, and specifically worked on the Staten Island Ferry path. With a larger than life personality and a quick, witty sense of humor, he loved everyone who came into his life. With his favorite saying being, "If you're OK, I'm OK," all of his friends and family knew how special he was in each of their lives.
Vinny was predeceased by his loving wife of 32 years, Linda (nee Ozborn) O'Neill; his brother, William O'Neill; his nephews, Steven O'Brien and Shawn O'Neill; and by his parents: Vincent and Ella O'Neill.
Surviving are his daughter, Susan Knapp and her husband James; three grandchildren; Caitlin O'Neill, Emily O'Neill, and Gregory Diaz; his sisters: Kathryn "Kathi" O'Neill, and Laurie Cumella; a brother-in-law, James Ozborn; several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; many other extended family members; and friends and neighbors who he held dear to his heart. He and his family also appreciated all of the care he received from Grace Hospice before he passed. All who knew and loved him will continue to celebrate the love, light, and laughter that he brought to their lives.
Visitation will be held at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 2-5PM. A funeral service will be held in conjunction with the visitation at 4:30PM. Cremation will be private.
