He was preceded in death by his spouse, Ruby Mae (Bowles) Skiles; his parents, Brown and Ella (Wilson) Skiles; his sister, Norma (Skiles) Kozak; and grandson, Daniel Graham.
He is survived by his daughters, Paula Junkins (John) of Wheeling, Brenda Graham (Steve) of Elkview; his brothers, Herbert Skiles (Glenna) of Charleston, Russell Skiles (Eva Lee) of Spencer; 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Harold graduated from DuPont High School Class of 1947. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War era and he was stationed in Germany. Harold was a carpenter by trade being a member of Carpenters Union Local 1267 for over 60 years. Woodworking and home building was his work and hobby. Harold loved working with wood which he started by building a chicken coop when he was about 10 years old. He built kitchen cabinets, furniture, curio cabinets, entertainment centers and grandfather’s clocks. He attended a number of churches in the Charleston area and built many items for these churches, everything from tables, pulpits to church steeples. Harold was a very strong Christian, Baptist by faith. He read his Bible every day until his final few days. God took him home peacefully while he slept.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday May 9, 2024 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow with Military Rites at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
