Ethel Victoria Wooldridge

Ethel Victoria Tyree Wooldridge, beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 75. Ethel was born on March 17, 1949, in Amherst County, Virginia, to Willie and Mary Frances Oliva Tyree. Ethel grew up surrounded by a large and loving family of sixteen sisters and brothers. She is survived by her two brothers Jesse James Tyree and William Fitch Tyree. Ethel is also survived by her big sister Mary Pleasants, who loved, supported and cared for her little sister these past several years. Mary’s dedication and love were instrumental in providing comfort and companionship to Ethel throughout her journey. Ethel is survived by her sons, David Wooldridge and Chris Wooldridge (Holly), and her daughters, Brinda Jackson (David) and Sabrina Hutcherson (Coleman). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ethel had many lovely attributes. She loved decorating for the holidays, a trait both of her daughters inherited from her. She had a special bond with her animals from horses to cows, cats and dogs- especially Mattie. Ethel was a great storyteller and had a knack for making others - especially her children -smile and laugh with her way with words. Ethel was a lover of coffee and long conversations with her brothers and sisters, sharing stories and laughter. Ethel taught herself to play the guitar with a little help from Roy Clark and she especially loved Elvis and his music. Ethel enjoyed reading the Bible and loved God. Ethel lived a life with its hardships but overcame all the obstacles that came her way. She was able to teach herself to drive, purchase a house of her own starting with only a jar of pennies and make a career of caring for others as well as overcome other struggles throughout all her years. She was also proud of all the accomplishments of her children. Her compassionate nature touched the lives of many. Ethel will be remembered and cherished for her warm smile, kind heart, unique sense of humor, A celebration of Ethel’s life will take place at the Whitten Monelison Chapel, in Madison Heights Virginia, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 1 pm, with Reverend Gary Moore officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation as held at Whitten Monelison Chapel on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Ethel Victoria Tyree Wooldridge will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the family during this difficult time.
