Dick grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Theodore Ahrens Trade High School and graduated in 1953. He served 13 years in the Air National Guard. Dick retired from The Jefferson County Board of Education. He was an avid golfer and played in many leagues and tournaments throughout his lifetime and worked at his family's golf driving range in his youth. He was a member of the German American Club where he enjoyed spending much of his time attending dances and volunteering at functions. He loved his family, animals, and having long conversations with friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred Ottman, sisters Raymie Jean Ottman and Mary Bryant, and spouses, Jane Ottman and Gertrud Ottman.
Dick is survived by his sister Janet Perkins and brother-in-law Roger, and brother William Ottman and sister-in-law Linda, children, Ray Ottman Jr., and wife Jennifer, Daryl Scott Ottman and wife Meredith, Maronda McKinney and husband Kurt, and Mark Buchta.
Grandchildren, Erin Ottman, Madison Ottman, Taylor Bieschke and wife Brooke, Jordan Ottman, Cole McKinney and Maddie McKinney.
A visitation will take place from 10-12 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 followed by a memorial service at 12pm. Both are to take place at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village.
Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Immediately after the funeral.
