Steven Sybounthath Khonesavanh departed this life on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at the age of 63. He was in the comfort of his home in Las Vegas, NV, as he passed gently into the night. His five loving children and his eldest granddaughter were by his side.
Sybounthath was born in Laos in a small village in the city of Savannakhet where he and his family lived a simple life. During his teenage years, his family was able to get sponsored in order to move to the United States, where he would spend the rest of his life.
As a father, grandfather, brother, and friend, everyone can agree that my dad was one of the most generous, hardworking, vibrant, unselfish, and loving people any of us had the pleasure of knowing.
His Generosity
When you think of my dad, I believe everyone can picture a memory where he has shown his generosity. Whether that is bringing over extra food to share, doing various odd jobs like helping someone fix their car, or babysitting when parents need a break, my dad would always be at the ready to offer his time to help and give what he can.
His Work Ethic
My dad could never sit still. He would always go, go, go. From the day he came to this country more than forty years ago, he has worked tirelessly to provide for his family and friends. He would work side gigs on top of multiple jobs in order to provide. Even in my twenties, I could not match my dad’s energy.
His Vibrancy
I know everyone here can picture my dad’s smile. He always loved to be the center of attention and did everything in his power to make those around him laugh and smile. Most people reading this can imagine him singing. Whenever I do karaoke from now on, it will always remind me of my dad. He also has plenty of iconic quotes that my family and friends will reference for the rest of our lives. He is one of the most charming and charismatic people I could think of.
His Unselfishness
Everything mentioned above showed what my dad would do for others before he would worry about himself. He would trade anything in order to help others before himself.
His Love
If it was not already apparent, my dad would do anything for his family and friends. Everything great about my dad that I mentioned before would not be possible without his never ending supply of love and affection that he showed. I love you, dad.

Sybounthath Khonesavanh was the best father, grandfather, brother, friend, and man anyone could ask for. This, we can all agree. He will be missed. “Gods bless” his soul.
