Ferdinand Diaz, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on April 28, 2024 at the age of 67. Born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to Miguel A. Diaz-Ruiz and Maria (Celin) Diaz, Ferdinand's early years were marked by diverse cultural experiences as he moved with his military family, attending schools in Vicenza, Italy; Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; and Karlsruhe, Germany, before graduating from Killeen High School in 1976.
Ferdinand pursued higher education later in life, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University - Central Texas in 2014. His profound creativity and skill in the arts were recognized with numerous awards and accolades over the years. Known affectionately as Ferdi to his friends and family, he had a passion for the creative arts, carpentry, and travel.
Predeceased by his father, Miguel A. Diaz-Ruiz, Ferdinand's legacy is carried on by his mother, Maria Diaz; his brother, Miguel Diaz; his sisters, Diana Diaz Fajardo and Wanda Holmes along with six nieces and nephews and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Rosary and tributes will take place at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen on May 28, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for May 29, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Killeen at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Committal Service at Killeen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ferdinand's memory to the SPCA International - Global Animal Rescue (www.spcai.org), reflecting his lifelong love for animals.
