Paula grew up in Madison, WI where she graduated from West High school in 1973. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Art Education. She started her career at Nicolet in the 80s and often joked she could never get business cards because the company name changed every two years.
Paula worshiped her two children, Meaghan and Nate. They meant the world to her and she would have done anything for them. She couldn’t have been more excited when they both moved to Florida with her, even if she did have to do a bit of bribing.
In December of 2014, Paula had reached her limit with cold Wisconsin winters and headed south to Juno Beach, FL. She started a new job at Crossmatch where she was the Director of Order Management. She was also the office’s favorite test subject for the latest fingerprint scanner because her fingerprints were so hard to read.
Paula got her daily vitamin sea with sunrise beach walks, listening to her Jimmy Buffet tunes along the way. When she wasn’t out being a sun goddess, Paula loved being in the kitchen cooking, channeling her inner Julia Child. Paula hosted every big holiday, insisting that no one bring any food, because she knew it would not be as good as hers (she was right!). When Paula wasn’t busy being the World's Best Boss Lady at work, she loved spending time with her two grandchildren, Bradley and Maeve. She loved them both so much and truly cherished each moment that she had with them.
Paula’s infectious laugh will be missed by so many. She had the best sense of humor and always had a joke in the moment. Paula would never take NO for an answer, which is how her Bulldog nickname came to be. She fought through many hard times and never once gave up, never once complained (ok, maybe complained about the hospital food) and never once felt sorry for herself. She was the most selfless person and always put others before herself.
Paula is survived by her two children, Meaghan Johnson (Jared) and Nate Thill (Srey); two grandchildren, Bradley Thill (9) and Maeve Johnson (1); six siblings, Steve Scharch (Amy), Stacy Scharch (Deb), Stewart Scharch, Stan Scharch (Pat), Maggie O’Keefe (Dave), and Ted Scharch (Kristin); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. A celebration of life service will occur at 4:00 pm. Both events will take place at Aycock- Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. The family requests that guests wear their “Lilly vibe” colors to celebrate Paula’s vibrant life. After all, she was always the life of the party.
For those unable to make the service, please have a piña colada in Paula’s honor.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to The Anderson Family Cancer Institute at Jupiter Medical Center in Paula’s memory.
