Pastor Delbert Edward Storie, age 84, of Johnson City, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Pickett County, Tennessee, a son of the late Johnny Baxter Storie and Nealie Jane Rich Storie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gamiel Storie.
Delbert married the love of his life, Ms. Fannie Cue Cope on May 14, 1960. He served as Pastor of Martindale Baptist Church since October 31, 1977 and in January 2022 became Pastor Emeritus. He was an expository Bible teacher and Preacher; a firm believer in “Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth.” Pastor Storie was a member of Tri-State Baptist Fellowship and IFCA International. He enjoyed visiting, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fannie Cue Storie; one daughter, Wanda Gillette; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dwight Storie, and Bruce Storie and wife Tracy; six grandchildren, Brian Gillette, Katie Murphy and husband Joshua, Joshua Storie and wife Aly, Luke Storie and wife Jenica, Kyle Storie, and Ella Storie; three great grandsons, Hunter Storie, Silas Murphy, and Aiden Murphy; three sisters, Allene, Lois, and Rhonda; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Ralph and wife Gladys, and Richard and wife Rita; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 11:00AM until 12:45PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Joshua Byrd officiating. Committal Service and Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
