Marie's life was one of resilience and determination. She entered the workforce at a young age, starting as a car hop at just 14 years old. Her journey eventually led her to Texas in 1981, where she pursued a career in the hospitality industry for over five decades. It was in Wichita Falls, Texas, that she met the love of her life, Howard Stephens, at a local tavern. Their meeting developed into a beautiful partnership, and they were wed within the year in 1990. Marie possessed a wonderful heart, a never-ending work ethic, and an outspoken personality, earning her the nickname “Miz Rowdy.”
Beyond her professional life, Marie found joy in the simple pleasures of being an avid armchair detective and crossword connoisseur. Her sharp mind and love for puzzles brought her countless hours of entertainment and satisfaction.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard, her parents Walter and Maxine Shields, her daughter Kimberly Durrett, and her grandson Beau Durrett.
Marie is survived by her son, Walter Rosas, and her grandchildren: April Reese, Vincent Rosas, and Myles Durrett. She is also survived by her three great-granddaughters.
Marie will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, fierce independence, and boundless love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering determination. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
