Sylvia Marian Pauckner Our beloved mother and grandmother, Sylvia Pauckner, died on May 2, 2024, at 76 years old. Sylvia was devoted, nurturing, and loving to her family. She raised two children, Jenny (Yves) Ambroise and Caitlin (Nicholas) Heinzelman, in a warm home filled with love, learning, creativity, and magic. Sylvia was married for 44 years to the “keeper of her heart,” Ed, who preceded her in death. As a grandmother to Estelle (7), Solange (10), Calliope (10), Colton (15), and Elinor (19), she connected through storytelling, art, music, play, support of their challenges, and celebration of their triumphs. Sylvia was known for her ability as a teacher for over 30 years in Washington Township, following in the footsteps of her mother, Jenny Lou Bryan. She dedicated herself to understanding the needs of each of her students and worked tirelessly to help them learn. She was also a gifted writer and artist who was working on writing and illustrating several books at the end of her life. She was everything to our family, and she had a special ability to listen to, support, and reassure those who were connected with her. She will be dearly missed. A visitation for Sylvia will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
