Stephen Ray Bohannon

Stephen Ray Bohannon, age 74, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. He was born on October 23, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Russell Eugene & Deloris Ruth Huber Bohannon. Stephen was a straight shooter and viewed by so many as a quiet gentle giant of a man. He loved his home and enjoyed helping his neighbors with their tractors, with his lifelong friend, Mitch. He always enjoyed his weekly calls from Mitch & Mark. He took a special pride in caring for his lawn and everyone in the neighborhood knew he didn’t want one single dandelion in his yard! He also loved taking care of his swimming pool for the last 23 years. Stephen worked for 30 years as a postal clerk for USPS. In his free time, he loved to strategize and play chess. He enjoyed rebuilding engines, watching sports and Gunsmoke, and listening to country music. He had a knack for drawing and liked to watch Bob Ross. Stephen also enjoyed small dogs and cats. He was known to make a great steak on the grill and incredible meatballs! Overall, he was just a great cook and an even better provider for his family. Stephen is preceded in death by his father Russell Eugene Bohannon, his mother Deloris Ruth Bohannon, his sister Linda Lashbrooks and niece Melissa Lashbrooks. He is survived by his loving wife Karen Bohannon of 39 years in marriage, his son John Bohannon, daughters Nena (Denny) Dove, Brittany Bohannon and Brooke Bohannon as well as grandsons Denny Dove and Nick Dove and two great granddaughters Jacklyn and Caslyn Dove. A visitation for Stephen will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stephen's memory may be made to Aperion Care Summerfield in Cloverdale Indiana for Huntington’s Disease patients.
