He was born in Southbridge, MA on July 8, 1939. Ken graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge, MA in 1957, graduated from Assumption College, and then graduated from law school at Boston College. He worked as an insurance lawyer at Aetna Inc. in Hartford, CT for about 10 years. He met his wife in York Beach, ME while they were both on vacation. They courted for three years before marrying on May 17, 1974. They moved to the Cape to begin their life together. Ken was an owner and manager of hotels on the Cape until the age of 70. He enjoyed helping customers and people who worked for him became family. Ken was a devout catholic and managed to find the time to be one of the founders of Mended Hearts at Cape Cod Hospital. He visited and lifted up patients’ spirits who had or were going to have heart surgery, as he had 6 bypasses in 2001. Ken was an extremely kind, compassionate, loving, and supportive man. He loved the Cape and being by the ocean watching the boats go by. But his greatest accomplishment in life was being the best father and husband anyone could ever ask for.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maryse (Richard) Ethier, his son, Jason Ethier, his daughter, Jaime Ethier, his three nephews, Chris, Todd, and David Ethier, as well as their families, lots of friends, and acquaintances.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 347 South Street in Hyannis, at 11 AM followed by a blessing of his niche at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine Street in Centerville. There will be a Celebration of Ken’s Life at the Wequaquet Lake Yacht Club, 150 Annable Point Road in Centerville on Monday afternoon from 1-5 PM.
