Kim Brizendine, age 88, of Huntsville, AL passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by family. Born as Chu Cha Kim in Masan, South Korea, she was the eldest of seven children including three brothers and three sisters. Kim dedicated her life as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who sacrificed a lot to give her children a better life. With her retired Army husband Harlen and three children, she moved from South Korea to the United States, specifically Huntsville, AL in 1978. Kim became an integral part of the community by working at the Commissary on the Redstone Arsenal until she was 81 years old. She was also a steadfast Christian and pillar of her church, Huntsville Baptist Church, where she was an active member for over 30 years. When she was not working or at church, Kim loved to cook traditional Korean meals for her family. Also, she prided herself in gardening. Her yard looked like a beautiful botanical garden, and she often had a vegetable garden, too.
The Brizendine Family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life. not the sadness of her passing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harlen Brizendine. She is survived by three children, Ricky Brizendine, Terry Brizendine, and Lisa Brizendine, who all reside in Huntsville, AL; one daughter-in-law Mercedes Brizendine (wife to Ricky); and five grandchildren who reside in California, Huntsville, and New Jersey.
