For over 54 years, Rita shared an extraordinary love story with her husband, Lawrence Bruffy. Their deep devotion to each other was an inspiration to all who knew them. With that came even more love; her daughter and granddaughter held such a deep and profound love in her heart.
Rita’s kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her, and she was a stranger to no one. Rita was fiercely loyal and was always there as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor. Also known for her immense love and kindness towards animals, she cherished her furry companion, Gizmo, very much.
Throughout her life, Rita embraced each day with thoughtfulness and boundless enthusiasm. She pursued a wide range of hobbies and interests, finding immense joy in everything from planning festive holidays to creating beautiful crafts. Rita was also an adventurer at heart, cherishing memories of the beach, cruises, trips to Lake Charles, and countless other experiences shared with loved ones.
A devoted army wife, Rita embraced the military lifestyle, including many moves and overseas deployments in Germany. She always championed service members and held unwavering pride in her country. She also had a heart full of pride for her home state of Texas. She cherished bluebonnet fields, her community, and memories of Galveston.
Rita was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Georgia Allums, and brother, Terry Willoughby.
Rita leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, April; granddaughter, Tayler; and grandson-in-law, Max. She is also survived by her brother, Eddie, sister-in-law, Rhonda, and will be lovingly welcomed by her soon-to-be-born great-grandson.
