Patsy graduated Yazoo City, High School in 1961. She met Thomas (Tommie) Martin in Houston, Texas and the two married on April 13, 1963. Together with this union, they had two sons.
Patsy was a devoted wife of 53 years. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She found great joy in volunteering in her children's school activities. Throughout the 70's, she was involved in the PTA as Vice President and a Team Mother in little league.
Patsy had a career in the dentistry field as a Lab Tech at P&S Dental Lab. She worked tirelessly for over 30 years. In her later years, she helped serve in her community as a secretary/ treasurer of the Ralston Acres Water Board for over 10 years.
Some of Patsy's many passions included spending quality time family and friends. She had a love for nature and gardening. She had an unbelievably green thumb and had a knack for growing some of the largest tomatoes. She enjoyed being on the water and boating. Patsy's family owned a jukebox machine business when she was younger which would explain her love for music.
In 2016, Patsy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and spent her remaining years in care until her passing. All who came to know Patsy will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Nichols; father, Charles B. Shive; loving husband, Thomas E. Martin and brother, David Shive.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Wade Martin and wife Kathy, Charles (Rusty) Martin; grandson, Thomas Bradley (Brad) Martin and wife Catherine; sisters, Charlene Pearson and Linda Bryan and husband Rich; half-brother, Charles Shive as well as a host of other cherished family and friends.
A visitation for Patsy will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will follow and begin at 1:00 PM in Brookside's Family Chapel with Pastor Marty Mikelson officiating.
