After living a life filled with service to those she loved, a genuine and kindhearted soul departed this earth on April 23, 2024. A beautiful baby girl and mother to all those she knew, she was born on December 9, 1967, to Wilbert and Barbara Roberts in Houston, Texas. She was the oldest girl. They named her Kimetria Roberts.
Kim, even as a child, was everyone’s protector and boss. She was the oldest sibling who loved to play restaurant. Using her managerial skills, even at an early age, she would have her siblings and cousins be the wait staff who served her. While all the other kids in the family would go outside and play, she preferred to stay in the air conditioning watching the stories and cleaning up, saying it was too hot out there and that she was staying in the house. Knowing who her savior was, baptized, Kim gave her life to Christ. She became a member of Mt. Zenora Missionary Baptist Church. Kim’s role as protector and leader continued as she went to high school. You could see Kim all around the neighborhood picking everyone up in her mother’s station wagon and driving them to all the neighborhood events. During this time, she graduated from Eisenhower High School as a member of the Class of 1986. After graduation, she went on to the University of Houston, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Purchasing and Material Management.
Kim was always a woman who worked hard. Whether it be calling the elders in the family to learn the secret family recipes, cooking Sunday dinner while cheering for her Dallas Cowboys or in her professional career, she always gave 100%, with a smile on her face and with love in her heart. Throughout her life she worked in a variety of different fields. She worked in Banking, Mortgage and Residential Services. She ended up as a Supervisor - Utilization Management for Texas Children’s Health Plan.
As hard as Kim worked, she also loved spending time with her family and friends. One of her favorite activities was being a member of What It Do/ Do It Now Trail Riding Club where she was affectionately known as the WID Trail Matron. In her role as Trail Matron, she was once again like the mom, making sure that the members of the group were always okay and checking on members who were going through different things, no matter what may have been going on in her own life. She was club contact, attending all meetings, always bringing back vital information. One of her favorite events was the annual “Big Ride,” where she would make sure that group members papers were up to date, everyone had their necessary badges, everything needed for the daily meals was obtained and that the group was always in uniform.
Later in life she rededicate her life to Christ joining The Refreshing Church under the leadership of Pastor John A. Murray III. Anyone who met Kim loved and cherished her. No matter what she may have been going through, she always thought about those around her and wanted to make sure that they were okay. Even when her own health began to fail, she continued checking on those who she loved. She was a genuine person from the day she arrived until the day she left, and she made a lifelong impression on any person who was fortunate enough to meet her.
