Patrick Michael O'Neill, known to his friends as Paddy, was a man of immeasurable love and unwavering strength. Born on July 22, 1962 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he lived a life filled with boundless joy and cherished moments with those he held dear. On April 30, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family, Paddy departed this world leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him. Paddy was the Salt of the Earth and loved his family and friends very much.
Paddy's devotion to his family was unparalleled. His children - Jennifer O’Neill (Tommy Dugas), Patrick O’Neill (Felecia Schlay), Grandchildren Liam Dugas, Luke Dugas, Brielle O’Neill, Braelyn O’Neill and Step children Tara Migel, Rachelle Pace, Jacob Parker (Victoria Lawrence). He came from a family of five; pre-deceased by his Dad Ronald (Pat) O’Neill, Mother Congetta Morgan, Brother Kyle O’Neill. He has two sisters, Cathy Trembley, Tessy O’Neill. Many nieces and nephews, and Dog Charlie as paddy’s buddy whom he loved very much.
Paddy’s favorite people were his Grandchildren and he never felt so much joy than to see them playing and enjoyed each individual personality they have. He wanted to always make them feel loved and know he was always proud of who they were and enjoy themselves and be themselves.
His children were the apple of his eyes and he was thankful to be a part of their lives and see the people they have become. His bond with his children was strong and filled with incredible love. He loved singing with his baby girl Jennifer and enjoyed himself immensely at her camping spot where he was spoiled always with love from her and the boys and so many others. He was so proud of his Son Patrick for his sportsmanship and had fun going on adventurous golf trips with Patrick and his friends also. Paddy was proud of all of his step children and loved them all very much; Tara Migel (beautiful, strong and smart soul), Jacob Parker (whom he was proud of for the man he has become)and Rachelle Pace (sweet lady and mother). Unfortunately he also understood loss, he lost a baby and towards the end of his life expressed pain regarding that child lost.
His soulmate, love of his life and best friend, Denise Parker shared many great memories and good times and they learned so much about life together, growing unbreakable bonds that will carry into eternity.
Paddy in his younger years was well known for his pitching abilities in fast ball and soft ball; they say he was the best pitcher (00 Jersey number) in the Maritimes. He also was a great dart player and played in many tournaments across Nova Scotia, everyone would smile and say “we got this game”, if you were on his team. He loved playing golf with his Son Patrick and friends and nailed it with a with a hole in one last time he played with the boys. He played pool as well and loved playing with boys at the Billard clubs around town, he was a real team player at all the sports he played.
He put a high value on his friendships and cherished every single one of them in his own unique way. Their memories together were happy and unbelievably funny for some of them.
Special mention to Bobby Flemming who played a major role in Paddy’s life when he was a teenager and loved him unconditionally and took him under his wing.
Paddy worked at the Dock/Shipyard as a Sheet Metal Worker for most of his life and was also a Veteran serving Reserves for a short period of time in his life. He was a remarkable craftsman with all he touched and the fellas would look to him for his wealth of knowledge in so many areas. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to all of them.
Everyone who knew Paddy loved him and he had many brother like friends he respected and loved including special mentions of Jim Webb and Brian Lullamend (Lully).
